Fullsteam in July

Last night was our event at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham. This is absolutely my favorite event! Mainly because of the open dancing and live music. I decided to do recorded music this time b/c I am running out of songs to perform live to. I have danced to ALOT by the Lost Nomads. LOL. This is true improv. I only got my music Tuesday morning and listened to it a couple times. LOL

{Video from Down East}

I had the best time in New Bern last weekend. Thanks to Brian Beaman for videotaping the event. What wonderful musicians I was so lucky to dance with: Andrew Shakinovsky, Matthew Waltenberger, and Jeremiah Soto.

{ATS Attacks!!}

This Saturday is ATS Attacks, hosted by Nandana Bellydance. It is cool events like this when I am tempted to go over to the ‘dark side’ to Tribal. LOL. I absolutely love all the fusion costuming! This event is now sold out, but there is a waiting list. Live Middle Eastern Music by the Lost Nomads and guest musician Jeremiah Soto! It is going to be great. Lots of vending, shopping, dancing, music, photo shoots, and fun!!

{Down East Fest- Part 2}

We had the best time!!! We were hoping to go down to New Bern Friday night for the hafla too, but it was just too long to be away from the kids, so we left Saturday morning. It was only 2 hours, but felt like 20 and I wasn’t feeling the greatest once we arrived. Lots of beautiful jewelry, clothing, and costuming. (I was good and only bought a necklace, CD, and tshirt). I took 4 hours of classes on Saturday, Hip/Hop Fusion with Lisa Z, and Veil with Naima! So much fun!!! Then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the show while Andy worked on sound checks with the band. The show started a little late due to some sound difficulties, but it was GREAT! I am so happy I got to dance improv to the wonderful live music by Jeremiah Soto, Matt, and Andrew. They are great!!! Day 2 we drove around Historic New Bern and went to Union Point Park by the river and even walked out on a railroad track that was out over the water….kind of cool! Got some lunch and headed back for another 2 hour workshop for sword with Jaki and Oracle. Loved it!!! Andy and the guys jammed out and played some cool tunes. It was so nice to see all my friends and make some new ones. A big Thanks to Kaitlyn Bellydance for a wonderful weekend!!

All the musicians- Matt, Andrew, Barry, Jeremiah

Live performance with the band- Matt, Andrew, Amara, Jeremiah

Shimmies at the Eno

It was sweltering this past weekend at the Eno, but we shimmied in the sun anyway! Luckily this year our stage was in the shade. We got to dance to the wonderful live music by local Middle Eastern musicians, the ‘Lost Nomads’. I danced to an ‘Alhambra and Nomads Reel remix’. I used my beautiful wings and danced all improv! Afterwards we listened to some other great music, I got a henna tatoo, and we snacked on some yummy pupusas!!
